Esse texto (This text)
The Platô's art criticism magazine
Created in 2023 by Diogo Liberano and Gustavo Colombini , Brazilian artists living in Portugal, Esse texto (This text) is an art criticism magazine published online and free of charge, published quarterly.
Published by Platô, it is dedicated to the creation of critical texts that begin with the encounter between artistic creations – predominantly created and presented in Portuguese territory – and those who write them.
The magazine proposes a practice of critical fiction: texts that don't explain the artistic object, but allow themselves to be affected by it, opening space for multiple voices, narrative forms, and thoughts that provoke and invite reading. These are texts that occur between the artistic object and the critical person , between the real and the literary, between the body and language.
Since its founding, Esse texto has developed its own methodology, maintaining formal freedom and editorial consistency. Each issue publishes four previously unpublished texts, composing a critical constellation based on four different artistic creations.
In addition to its five editions already published, the magazine was also investigated in the Reclamar Tempo program ( CAMPUS Paulo Cunha e Silva , Porto), in July 2025, where its methodology was deepened through body and writing practices.
